Signage Program

Signage Program

I Love A Clean San Diego offers sign recognition at select sites for adopters who complete their adoption requirements. Multiple groups can adopt the same beach, but sign recognition is on a first come, first serve basis. Recognition signs are updated on an annual basis.

Signage Program Requirements

Schedule and complete your cleanups

All groups must complete 3 cleanups at their adoptable area within 1 year from their request date to qualify for their free sign, which acknowledges both your group’s contribution to the community and commitment to environmental stewardship.

File reports for each completed cleanups

Groups must file their totals report online via their Adopt-A-Beach account using data gathered on their summary card. Though this is asked of all volunteer groups, this is especially important for signage program participants since this allows us to see how much of an impact this program has on cleaning up the environment and to verify your group’s progress toward fulfilling the signage program requirement.

How to Request Signage

alt Upon registering for the Adopt-A-Beach program, you can opt in to request a sign at your adoptable area to recognize your group. You will also be able to input the text you’d like for your sign. It is recommended that the text be 30 characters or less (including spaces) to ensure that it will be legible. All volunteers are emailed a confirmation of their signage request.

Signage Waitlist

Since only one to four adopting groups can be recognized on each sign, it is typical for there to be a waitlist. Once you request signage, you will immediately be added to the waitlist if there is one. Your group’s position on the waitlist and estimated time until your posting will be indicated in the email confirmation of your signage request.

If having signage and a short waitlist are very important to your group, please contact our Community Programs Coordinator at 619-704-2774 before registering to determine a site that accommodates your group’s signage needs.

Due to permitting, not every beach is involved in the signage program, so be sure to look for sign eligibility under the site details link.
